Chewy is looking for an Industrial Design Manager to join our growing Private Brand Design Team based in our Plantation, Florida headquarters.
Highly creative, innovative with a passion for industrial product design.
You have a growth mindset and are comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial team environment.
Highly collaborative, while still driving a strong sense of ownership with excellent decision making throughout product development process.
You have a strong ability to hand-sketch, create 3D renderings, and presentation materials to convey product vision & execution of final design intent.
As the lead Industrial Design Manager, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from generating new product innovations to sketching & rendering the product and finishes.
You will demonstrate your full range of product thinking, industrial design, and maker skills to shape the future product assortment in Frisco hardgoods.
Categories include crate/gear, beds/furniture, bowls/ feeders & specialty.
You are confident in presenting design methodologies, materials & construction aspects to cross-functional partners, and key stakeholders in the business to drive the best product solutions for our customers.
What You Will Do:
Be at the forefront of formulating hardgoods design concepts, product specs & collaborating with our sourcing team in all aspects of product development.
Work with sourcing partners & our product engineer in our China office to achieve the best possible product in terms of craftsmanship, cost engineering, while also staying as close to the design vision as possible.
Provide detailed illustrations & renderings to communicate design details / final concepts and present to merchandising & leadership.
Lead design projects from concept to execution of final product through all key deliverables & calendar milestones.
Research to stay on top of industry trends / innovations and apply to product design and cost saving opportunities.
Partner closely with the Trend & Design Manager of softgoods to create brand synergy opportunities through seasonal collections and special project capsules.
Offer Input to the design technology roadmap to support future 3-D design capabilities.
Create tech-pack standards for hardgoods & specialty to drive effective engineering of products.
Act as a subject matter expert within industrial design solutions partnering closely with sourcing managers and QA team to drive impactful product improvements.
Can lead 1
direct reports; Comfortable leading team sizes of up to 4.
Present concepts and product recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders, merchandising and senior leadership.
Build clear brand design guidelines for hardware / finishes which adhere to the brand DNA.
Attend sample reviews in partnership with sourcing teams to lead in product recommendations & inspections.
Partner with Associate Director to establish innovation product life-cycle management, inputs & key connectors with sourcing & vendor partners.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design.
Strong online/digital portfolio required with application.

years' experience in a Industrial designer role, with experience across multiple categories and leading people (team +1.
) Experience recruiting and developing direct reports.
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs, 3-D CAD software.
Ability to manage multiple projects/ season's at once and consistency meeting deadlines.
Excellent time management skills.
Self-starting attitude and ability to work independently, and as part of a collaborative team environment.
Experience with PLM Systems.
Strong ability to present design ideas based on industry trends and customer data to link back to business objectives.
Excitement for building a strong creative team culture, with ability to lead through design execution & final product production.
Excellent visual design / rendering skills to apply across a multi-category role.
Understanding to drive consistency to a brand DNA, through industrial design expertise.
