06/27/2023 FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH BROWARD COUNTY GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT II - 64005795 PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.

POSITION DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
The Public Information/ Marketing Officer is assigned in the Community Health Department reporting directly to the Community Health Director in conformity with state and federal regulations.
Marketing:
Provides communications and marketing support to DOH-Broward staff and DOH Office of Communications.
Reviews DOH-Broward and DOH Office of Communications brand marketing and communication policies.
Assures marketing materials are up to date.
Reviews and coordinates design and printing standards, specifications and management control to achieve a standardization of Brand quality and appearance for all marketing material.
Participates in the writing, design and layout of marketing material.
Reviews design and implements graphic standards which govern branding position and make appropriate recommendations on all marketing material.
Liaison between staff and vendors to produce marketing/promotional material.
Reviews and approve layouts from graphic and printing vendors.
Assists in the selection of photographs and graphics to support written material.
Selects target media and product categories for proposed marketing activities.
Advises DOH Broward leadership and staff on standards for public presentations and community events.
Develop cooperative relationships with producers, graphic designers, and other marketing industry groups.
Review, evaluate and recommend promotional ideas, materials and media designed to increase awareness of public health goals.
Tracks and advises leadership and staff on new and innovative marketing trends.
Media:
Coordinates response to public records requests made by the news media.
Provides timely response to media inquiries including talking points for interviews in coordination with DOH Office of Communications.
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with local media and community partner PIOs.
Coordinates and prepare subject area experts for media interviews.
Develops, prepares and coordinates distribution of news releases and social media postings to media, government and community partners.
Monitor news (National, Regional and Local) for current and emerging public health topics, rumors and public concerns and communicate key news/issues to staff as appropriate.
Assure subscriptions are relevant and current annually.
Maintains Crisis Emergency Risk Communication plan including strategies to reach vulnerable populations and assure ADA compliance and update annually.
Keep media and PIO contact lists updated.
Emergency duty required includes staffing the Joint Information Center (JIC) or serving as PIO at Special Needs Shelters or Points of Dispensing (POD) locations.
Responsible for coding Employee Activity Record (EARS).
Responsible for the preparation of purchasing and the approval of purchasing including the assignment and responsibility of a Purchasing Card.
Assigned responsibility for maintaining information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and Department of Health policy as it relates to Information Custodian, Delegation of Authority.
Makes public presentations to officials, community groups and at other speaking engagements as directed by Community Health Director or agency Health Officer.
Attends internal and external meetings, conferences and trainings as requested.
Provides training at New Employee Orientation.
Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
Have a valid driver's license free of major infractions and access to a reliable automobile to be utilized for work purposes.
Able to work nights and weekends as determined by program needs.
Were you employed as the lead PIO for a governmental entity for at least three years.
Have experience designing and/or implementing marketing campaigns.
Have experience creating and posting content on social media platforms for an employer.
Have experience updating and maintaining social media accounts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Have a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, journalism, communications or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Have experience in crisis communication.
