Performs journeyman-level technical work with regards to the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems and other related equipment within Town facilities.
Completes tasks using knowledge, skills, computer methods and technology as they relate to the commercial/industrial plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration systems.
Work is performed under general supervision with considerable latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting codes, policies and procedures.
Reports to Public Works Director or designee.
Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Graduation from high school or GED; Vocational/Technical training in HVAC systems; Five (5) years of previous experience and/or training that includes installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems/equipment.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the State of Florida; Possession of an EPA Universal Refrigerant License; Possession or the ability to obtain a Broward County Air Conditioning Journeyman Mechanic's license and/or a Florida HVAC Contractor's license and/or a NATE certificate within one year of employment date.
