INVENTORY AUDIT SPECIALIST

POSITION GOALTo perform assigned duties reliably and independently under general direction with a minimum of direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESThe Inventory Audit Specialist shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below:
Complete fixed asset inventories pursuant to Board policy and departmental procedures.
Assess the adequacy of the control environment related to property and inventory and assist with ascertaining the extent of compliance with established policies, plans, and procedures.
Participate in audit engagements from planning to reporting and produce quality deliverables to both department and professional standards.
Make audit recommendations based on fieldwork performed.
Evaluate, test, and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of management controls.
Determine the root cause of irregularities.
Research and reconcile all outstanding issues pertaining to the documentation involving inventory accountability.
Finalize audit findings and use judgment to provide an overall opinion on the control environment.
Communicate audit findings to management and identify opportunities for improvement in the design and effectiveness of key controls.
Prepare detailed statements, schedules, and reports of all inventory audits and distribute same to appropriate property custodian and senior management.
Assist with the investigation of the reliability of accounting and other data developed within the department and determine causes for irregularities and errors.
Operate standard office equipment as well as equipment developed or advanced from future technology as required by the job.
Update property records as they relate to results of inventory audit program of all locations.
Compile and maintain forms, summaries, reports, records as necessary to ensure accurate, up-to-date accountability.
Interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents, and administrators, using tact and good judgment.
Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities.
Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor, or designee.
Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development (GED) Testing Program.
A minimum five (5) of fixed asset inventory experience.
OR An earned associate's degree in business or related field from an accredited institution.
A minimum of three (3) years of fixed asset inventory experience.
OR An earned bachelor's degree in business or related filed from an accredited institution.
A minimum of one (1) year of fixe asset inventory experience.
AND Effective, verbal and writing communication skills.
Strong analytical skills, and reconciliation experience.
Experience assessing the impact of internal control weakness.
Computer skills as required for the position.
The employee must provide their own transportation in situtations when vehicles cannot be provided (in such situations, the employee will be reimbursed pursuant to state statute ad Board policy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Experience in a computer science or information technology.
Bilingual skills.
SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purposeWorks with school board members, chiefs, school principals, and department heads to ensure proper inventory controls and that audit issues are resolved timely and effectively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSLight work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTSalary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
