Telecom Engineer
General Summary
The desired candidate will be a vital part of the Global Networks & Telecom team with expertise required to build and improve our Voice as a Service (VaaS) technologies. Motorola Solutions, Inc. is in the midst of deploying Internet-based Telephony at over 100 sites around the globe. Must be a self-motivated team player who is willing to assist others with projects and problems. There is an expectation that the candidate will proactively identify impactful solutions for the future or find improvements to the existing network.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
Rapid deployment of a Voice as a Service (VaaS) solution in over 100 locations globally.
Deliver quick, outstanding service and support.
Resolve simple requests from coworkers at any location.
Gather specific problem details to troubleshoot and resolve complex support issues.
Proactively identify methods to improve support and educate internal user community.
Setup of physical phones for areas where softphones just don't make sense.
Demonstrate a high level of creativity and expertise to develop simple, high impact solutions to improve our communications systems.
Provide technical direction and oversight to Service Desk and local support teams.
Participate on Service Restoration Teams when critical problems arise - 24x7x365.
Position based in Chicago. Travel around Chicago suburbs will be required and additional Global travel could be required based on project deployment needs.
Required Skills and Experience
3
years with VoIP, SIP, RTP, QoS/CoS and other relative protocols
3
years establishing new service at a site, porting numbers, post install triage
3
years managing Telecommunication service providers
Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills to resolve complex problems.
Experience Desired:
Hosted VoIP - Dialpad, 8x8, RingCentral, Shoretel
Working with ATAs (e.g. Obihai analog adapters)
Working with Telecom providers in EMEA, APAC, and other regions
Intermediate knowledge of network systems design principles and standards
Intermediate knowledge of packet capture and analysis
ITIL and Enterprise Change Management
Technical project management background
Experience working in a large enterprise environment (1000
endpoints)
