DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Director, Inventory and Purchasing is responsible for the Inventory levels and purchasing activities related to AutoNation branded parts, aftermarket collision and AutoGear accessories. The Director will work closely with suppliers, our stores and our Director Distribution and Logistics on right inventory in the right place at the right time. They will closely work with operations, finance and legal to engage and finalize supplier contracts. Ongoing they will implement measures to monitor supplier adherence to agreements as well as performance and service levels ensuring the partnership is strong and successful.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Resides on the Customer Care Corporate team and acts under the authority of the Senior Customer Care Director.
Will be a key interface with Legal, Finance, Audit and Purchasing
Will directly work with the Director Product and Sales and Director Distribution and Logistics
Will support other Customer Care purchasing as needed
JOB
Responsibilities:
Lead team to communicate with potential suppliers for AutoNation branded parts, AutoGear accessories and affiliates including identifying other potential categories to expand our branded line ups.
The team owns the preparation and delivery of RFI, RFQ, RFP, pricing analysis, and possible savings worksheets as well as a RFP light process product managers can use for small projects.
Partner with our legal team to prepare negotiation material and communicate with suppliers and assist in final contract preparations.
Team will monitor key performance indicators holding the suppliers accountable to agreed service levels and pricing.
Team will ensure initial inventories support sales goals
Develop and lead process/system to monitor ongoing inventory levels and help deploy that inventory across the enterprise as needed, keeping the supply chain timing in mind
Monitor and track product fill performance, aging inventory and utilize any and all return privileges provided by supplier
Monitor OE programs and backside money to help optimize our branded performance and impact to OE money and optimize inventory levels across our OE network
Work with Director, Distribution and Logistics to maintain key metrics and performance levels on inventory at Stores and Distribution Centers.
QUALIFICATIONS (MANDATORY):
High School graduate or equivalent / 5 to 8 years purchasing leadership and inventory optimization or equivalent experience / valid drivers license / able to demonstrate the ability to independently research and analyze supply base / expertise in MS Excel and Power Point
QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED):
Four-year college degree / experience negotiating with suppliers, ideally in the parts and service space / advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookup, graphs, etc.) / strong analytics and problem solving / excellent oral and written communication skills / experience in management of purchasing practices and procedures and inventory optimization
KEY EVALUATION CRITERIA:
AutoNation branded parts and AutoGear financial performance / supplier performance / inventory levels and fill rates / compliance to AutoNation policies, procedures and initiatives
