The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12 full performance level. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.- Conduct valid and reliable research when analyzing internal and external information to assess risk factors and identifies high-risk areas.- Identify and apply complex specialized audit techniques to achieve audit objectives. - Document in audit workpapers the results of audit review, using correct formats, including source, purpose, conclusion, and results. - Conduct effective meetings and conferences with auditees identifying innovative methods of presentation for the audience, e.g. multi-media. or other forms of technology. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.For the GS-11, specialized experience is one year of experience at the GS-09 level, or equivalent that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sufficient evidence to identify and document weaknesses in controls over operations for auditing purposes. Examples may include:
- Conducting interviews with key organizational authorities and other stakeholders to gather information; OR - Using auditing principles in conducting in depth research and analysis of agency operations; OR - Preparing briefings that address program weaknesses; OR - Work in tax administration processes related to identifying weaknesses in programs and developing segments of draft reports, memoranda or other written communications.OR3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral. (Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.)ORYou may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours may be combined with experience. For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal service or equivalent qualifying educational accomplishment. Specialized experience for this position is analyzing facts/data to address assigned project objectives/goals. Examples may include:
- Conducting audit or project tests in accordance with professional standards; OR- Documenting results of audits, projects or analyses in written documents; OR- Working for a tax administration organization that included responsibility for documenting results of audits, projects or analyses in written documents.OR2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. (Attach a copy of transcripts or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.)ORYou may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
